A number of advertising columns, on which selected motifs from the series “From a Disguise Seminar” by the Berliner Simon Menner can be seen, are located on the route between the exhibition locations in Nordstadt and Südstadt. The artist spent an extensive period conducting research in the Stasi archive and compiled a comprehensive series of portraits, which mainly show men in disguises suggested by the Stasi to its employees so that they could spy on their fellow humans less conspicuously. Now, more than 25 years on, these agents stand in the public space in West German Cologne and emphatically recall the issue of surveillance.
