Jessica Backhaus thematizes the significance of time. Everyday objects become visual motifs of metaphorical significance, light and colour are emotional means of expression. She steers the gaze onto things that are often overlooked, demonstrates, in a certain manner, the act of seeing.
Six degrees of freedom deals with universal issues of human existence; origin, identity and destiny are part of the search for our roots. Jessica Backhaus's symbolism turns it into a universally valid experience.
