Sea Change

Michael Marten shows in his series Sea Change how the tides alter the look of Great Britain's coast on a daily basis.
We see beaches, rockpools, silt and natural harbours only in passing – at low tide. When the sea comes back, everything has vanished again.
At low tide and high tide, the artist took two shots from the same standpoint. In the direct adjacency of the tides, the image pairs impressively illustrate the dynamic state of the British coastal landscape.
